At last I’m able to help out a seriously worthy grower commercially, apart from my evangelizing on their behalf. The lovely Pinot Noirs from BAUM-BARTH are now available; just follow the links, by clicking the VinConnects below. And be ready to have seven tons of Spätburgunder fun.
And so to Cantzheim... The newest I have at hand, at any rate. These things seem to take time….
That said, it will be interesting to see what this Saar estate accomplished in a vintage that tends to tartness, as the Saar is already a region of “expressive” acidity. And yet, I’m not sure the ’23 issue is acid-driven, as it doesn’t register as caustic but instead as phenolic, and this I suspect has more to do with drought stress than with acidity as such.
Anna Reimann is doing fine work with her newbie (2016) estate, with which I have, at this point, a tenuous commercial connection.
